As well as visiting Yorkshire restaurants and pubs, over the years I have reviewed may Yorkshire made food and drink offerings for my blog. From Henderson’s Relish to Stonebeck Cheese, Yockenthwaite Farm Granola to Yorkshire Pasta, it’s always good to sample and give a shout out to Yorkshire producers.
I was recently sent a note by a chap called Ben, asking me if I would be interested in sampling his wife Becky’s hand-made fudge. Being partial to a bit of fudge, it was an offer I couldn’t refuse but it was the interesting back story which I thought would also make a lovely story.

It turns out that setting up Sweetly Indulgent wasn’t a sudden lightbulb moment. It literally started out slowly and by accident as Becky just started out making small batches of her fudge for friends and family, to give out as gifts for birthdays and Christmas presents. Her fudge was always warmly received and she received glowing feedback, with her friends always trying to persuade her to start selling her fudge commercially.
Becky being very modest didn’t believe they really meant it and thought “they were just trying to be nice!”.
Eventually in 2025 she was persuaded to give it a go, so she made a few small batches and took them along to a local car boot sale, not expecting to really sell any. But she was wrong – there was an amazing response and her fudge sold out in no time, with people trying what they bought and giving her glowing praise.

This gave Becky the confidence to book a stall at an Artisan Market, and go along with a larger quantity of fudge. A similar thing happened, she sold out again and the discerning attendees at the market who bought her fudge encouraged her to have the confidence to continue.
From here, she started taking bigger stands and expanding her range of fudge, selling it under the Sweetly Indulgent Fudge name. Through contacts she made at the fairs, a number of independent shops requested to sell her products too so her fudge production had to increase to satisfy demand.

Then six months ago, she took the plunge and decided to build a website and offer her Sweetly Indulgent Fudge products online. This has been quite a journey for Becky who only first started selling her fudge last year. Now Becky offers a range of gifts from bars of fudge to boxes and bags of the product. She offers fudge boxes for wedding favours, Father’s Day, Mother’s Day, Birthdays and many other celebrations.

Her “signature” fudge is a traditional butter fudge which I was lucky enough to be sent to sample by Becky’s husband Ben. I decided to share the butter fudge with my wife and daughter, so we could all sample and share our opinions.
I can report back that the fudge got a big thumbs up from everyone and after being polished off pretty quickly, I started to regret sharing!! You really could taste the difference from a supermarket bought fudge, with it being soft and moist, with a really smooth, creamy texture and very sweet.
Having taken a look at the ingredients – the fact that condensed milk, butter and Biscoff spread make up some of them, I can see why the hand-made fudge is so indulgent.
Having taken a look at the Sweetly Indulgent website, Becky is also offering flavours as diverse as Peanut Butter Fudge and Pistachio Fudge. But I did also notice another luxury treat that I will have to try – a Fudge dipped date! Sounds delicious.
What is great is that Becky has done all this whilst still working at a school. So her fudge business is run on evenings, weekends and school holidays. Having tasted the product I hope the business continues to go from strength to strength.
